PRAGUE, CZECH REPUBLIC

CZECH THIS OUT

Prague is another one of those places that is charming, edgy, unassuming and cheap… A bit like Ads really! We had a fantastic recommendation for accommodation at Sir Toby’s – an incredibly cheap and cheerful hostel that also offered spunky private rooms, a drinking and games den as well as home cooked meals. Whilst we were there we met a group of American film and dance students who were also there for the long weekend – so much of our time in Prague was tagging along to their pub crawls and other shenanigans. We sampled some of Prague’s signature dishes like pork knuckle (also claimed by Germany but we’re awarding it to Prague), sweetened cabbage, dumplings and Czech beer. Naturally. We even went to a beer tasting night at our hostel which was a whole lot of fun – and some of the best beers we’ve tasted on this tour. We loved Prague – and our accommodation so much that we stayed there for a few more days than initially planned. This was also possibly due to the G&T’s costing only $3 and preventing us from driving anywhere the following morning.

WIN:
INXS has featured heavily on our roadtripping playlist – occasionally on repeat – so when we learned from our “musical scholar” pals that the film clip of Kez’s all time fave INXS tune, Never Tear Us Apart, was in fact made in Prague, we had to walk the same stretch as Michael Hutchence did some 20 years earlier. Kicking the dirt and permed locks were optional but recommended.

FAIL:
Not taking our camera with us on our twilight expeditions. You’ll just have to take our word for it – Prague is a VERY different place once the sun goes down.
